FROM THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (NJDOT)


ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 10, 2010, BONNIE BURN ROAD WILL BE IMPACTED BY THE FOLLOWING WORK:

14 Day Notice:

Work: Stage II - Intersection Improvements

Location: Route 22 / From Ramp over Route 22 to Bonnie Burn Road / vicinity of Route 22 MP 47.4±

Municipality: Watchung Borough / Somerset County

Scotch Plains Township / Union County

Impacts: The Ramp over Route 22 will maintain one lane each direction, but the current left turn movement onto Bonnie Burn Road will be eliminated for approximately two months. Bonnie Burn Road will be one-way NB shifted onto the newly constructed east side of the roadway for approximately .25 miles north of Route 22. Detour routes for the left turn movement and Bonnie Burn Road SB will be posted using New Providence Road and Valley Road.

NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE

Please be advised that full road closure will be necessary in the area of work to optimize the safety of the work crews and motoring public alike. The road will be closed from approximately 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day.. The work being performed will consist of various road improvements, such as milling, paving, and striping of the road. Due to the nature of the work involved, the amount of men and machinery required, Emergency vehicles will be allowed through at all times. Access to residences, including deliveries and other services, will be allowed as much as possible.

Please note that parking will be prohibited on Bonnie Burn Rd within the work zone during the operation of milling and paving. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Union County recognizes the inconvenience that any road construction may cause and apologizes for any difficulties encountered. The County shall make every effort to have the work completed as soon as possible.

A clearly marked detour route will be established and maintained by Union County forces.
Bonnie Burn Rd from Valley Rd to the Colorado Cafe in Watchung Boro will be under construction on or about Tuesday, August 24, 2010. It is anticipated that the work will take approximately 2 days to complete, weather permitting.

NOTICE OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Please be advised that sections of Plainfield Avenue from Mountain Avenue to Valley Road in Berkeley Heights will be under construction beginning Monday, August 16, 2010 and should last 4 days weather permitting.

The work being performed will consist of various road improvements, such as milling, paving, and striping of the road. Due to the nature of the work involved, the amount of men and machinery required, full road closure will be necessary in the area of work to optimize the safety of the work crews and motoring public alike. The road will be closed from approximately 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day weather permitting.

There are 3 sections of the roadway to be done in 3 phases as indicated on the map above. The sections are as follows:

  • Phase 1 - From Mountain Ave to Emerson Ln.
  • Phase 2 - From Drift Rd to the north driveway of the Connell Corp.
  • Phase 3 - From the south driveway of the Connell Corp. to Valley Rd.
